Dear Wealth Tablers,
In a world that often urges us to consume more, faster, and without reflection, Kimberly discovered a a practice that invites us to pause and ask, “Can I afford to buy 10 of these?” It’s a pause that stops the dopamine rush of a new purchase. And it makes you realize that you may not need that thing you were about to buy.
What is the 10x10 Purchase Rule?
When you want to buy a new pair of shoes, for exmaple, ask yourself if you can afford to buy 10 pairs. If the answer is a hard NO, obviously this purchase is not for you. If the answer is Yes! then take it further and ask:
Will this item bring me joy or value for at least 10 days?
Will I still appreciate or use it in 10 months?
The 10x10x10 Rule was invented by business writer, Suzy Welch. We have modified it slightly to begin with the question, “Can I afford to buy 10 of these?”
This simple yet profound practice creates a pause, allowing you to assess whether a potential purchase truly serves your highest good or merely satisfies a fleeting desire.
Why It Matters
Our spending habits are not just financial decisions; they're spiritual ones. Each dollar we spend is an extension of our energy and intention. By implementing the 10x10 rule, you begin to:
Cultivate Mindful Consumption: you become aware of your impulses and make choices that reflect your true needs and desires.
Align with Abundance: You shift from a scarcity mindset to one of sufficiency, recognizing that you have enough and are enough.
Honor Your Resources: You respect the energy, time, and money youve invested in earning income by being a conscious steward.
Implementing the Rule
Start by:
Pausing Before Purchase: Give yourself a moment to reflect before buying.
Asking the 10x10x10 Questions: Can I afford to buy 10 of these? Will this serve me in 10 days? In 10 months?
Listening to Your Inner Wisdom: Trust your intuition to guide your decision.
Join the Movement
Embracing the 10x10 Purchase Rule is more than a financial strategy; it's a commitment to living intentionally and authentically. We invite you to try it and share your experiences.
With love and abundance,
Kathryn and Kimberly
